If you purchase a used Kindle 1 on eBay, DO NOT pay more than $189 with free shipping. You can get the newest Kindle 3 model at Amazon (listed above) for their new low price. You should not even buy the latest model on eBay for more than that price, obviously. I would only buy the original Kindle if it was less than $50. But for just $100 more you can get the latest model with all the new features. We really do not see any reason to buy a used Kindle unless it is absolutely dirt cheap.
