New Sony eBook Reader - Portable, Digital
The Sony ebook reader has been trying to compete with the Amazon Kindle for quite some time now. They were left in the dust when Kindle had an e-reader capable of wireless connectivity for downloads. The Sony Reader did not. But they are making all kinds of improvements as we write. Here are some features that make Sony different than the Kindle, included on Sony's reader and not Kindles. The Sony Reader Touch (PRS-650) has a touch screen, Access to over 1 million free public domain titles from Google Books, Ability to borrow eBooks from libraries and has a Memory Stick Pro Duo & SD Card memory slot (supports up to 16GB). One of the big selling points is that the Sony Readers are compatible with multiple eBook stores whereas with the Kindle, you must purchase your items only from Amazon (Amazon's Library is Huge!). But the Sony Touch does not have WiFi or 3G. There is also the Sony Pocket Edition which is a smaller version of The Touch with no expandable memory.
Sony Reader Daily Edition
The Sony Reader PRS-950 Daily Edition is in response to the Kindle DX which has a larger reading screen. The Sony PRS-950 now has a 7 inch wide diagonal screen. The grayscale level has also been increased from level 8 to level 16.
